Today 56 years ago sweet rationing ended in Britain. This is fascinating. Not only that there was such thing – I know one things or two about food rationing from my relatives in Eastern Germany – but more that it finally came to an end.
I wonder whether all people subsequently ate only sweets for a week or threw them around like confetti or whether they just saved on them as they were used to – which obviously has also health benefits so I learned. Still, I like to believe they threw them out and about and everything was full of colour especially then in February where it is usually grey since far too long.
Which reminds me that I long for colour and believe it’s time for the colour revolution starting usually every spring – this year apparently we ought to make it indigo blue – I’d like to add yellow and, who would have thought it, of course pink. (candy image courtesy: jam343 / flickr)
