Having missed the whole of LondonFashionWeek I managed to finally catch up on the catwalk reports this weekend…and realized, so far, I have not missed that much I must say. I am just a tad dissapointed that most collections did not surprise me very much and that’s not happened before I think. I am not saying there were any horror ones, just not amazing ones but a couple of them are on the other hand so amazing that it makes up for the rest. A child of The Jago.
A child of The Jago is English through and through, they reflect what they observe
Left speechless for more than a moment I thought when I saw it they have just created a beautiful story full of inspirational looks, styled a whole book in fact and not missed one little detail. Now, one might argue that in fact it is more styling, less fashion forward creations. I don’t care. Their whole thing is so inspiring that the question simply doesn’t find room. A child of The Jago is English through and through, they reflect what they observe, people can find themselves and everyone takes a piece home of it. Love at first sight for me. The tailoring is Saville Row, the inspiration the street. The other one who may not have come up with something New but has presented it so consistently is Peter Pilotto. The theme of architectural, sculptural creations is clearly defined and he compliments the female shape whilst still somehow deconstructing it. I love stuff like that and I love the precise pattern making that allows the results. Perfect in my eyes. He goes with the mainstream using watercoloury and digital prints and texture but it doesn’t seem blunt and is so wearable. Similar stories at Mary Aksu and Danielle Scutt (is there a little Miuccia Prada in the aprons?) has just the greatest hair do of all I reckon!
Maybe once I looked deeper I’ll see more and who knows – art can grow on you with every time of looking at it…I look foraward to building my next season’s wardrobe, inspired by A Child of The Jago it can be anything.
