Grey is not a colour. How can I be obsessed with it? Grey is the rain. Boredom is grey. Clouds. Even though everything associated with grey seems to be have a negative touch, I am in love with it. I must have 10 different grey jumpers, some even the same. I got grey tights and grey shoes. Grey nail varnish even. We recently redecorated our living area. In grey. Grey is blunt and that’s what I love about it. It suggests this feeling of modesty to me. Blending in. Being pure.
That simple fold on the front gives it sculptural quality.
Grey is my black – and grey is the recession how I recently discovered. On a Saturday shopping trip which was supposed to be a window shopping trip I discovered this simple grey dress. It has a fold on the front a little bit like those origami dresses seen recently. It’s so ridiculously simple – I just love it. That simple fold on the front gives it sculptural quality. The material is quite cheap but it gains value just by having this little fold. The neck is waterfall-like, the shoulders quite shaped. It’s the perfect dress for work, soft material but structured. And it’s grey. I wear a yellow wooly jumper underneath here but any colour goes, long sleeves, short sleeves, nothing at all. The flat boots add comfort but are still dressy enough, here we go: my grey recession. Dress: Primark, £12, jumper: next, 2 for £15; boots: Primark £15; tights: can’t remember where from, appr. £2.50.
