On my way to work this morning I saw a little girl walking to school – and she had this beautiful pastell jade green duffle coat on with two clasps at the top giving it a little swing with every step. It reminded me of the one I used to wear at the same age (which I hated at the time I must admit).
It gives you a feeling of shelter, warmth and security
It was warm admittedly, I just had trouble buttoning it up and opening it again, which I suppose lead to my aversion. Grown up and perfectly capable of using the mechanism of the buttons it is a complete different story…I love duffle coats! They are so relaxed, warm, if made from wool water repellant and the new versions have been given a twist, too. Maybe it’s back in fashion because of the global recession, to give people a feeling of shelter, warmth and security just like the duffle coat was after the World War II given to people to keep warm – in fact during World War I British soldiers were issued one as an item of warm clothing. Well, or maybe it’s back in fashion because someone has remembered how stylish this simple item of clothing can actually be. EIther way, I love it and have picked 3 new versions for different budgets.

2. Precis Petit via john lewis.com £129
3. Pringle via my-wardrobe.com £350
of course i like the most expensive one best
I also had one when I was a kid. I don’t know if I liked it or not
I loved my coat so much when I was little until it finally ripped, I haven’t had one like this as an adult but who knows I might just give it a chance.
Much love,
Glendy
Love the lime green color- would look so bold with a black dress underneath!
